- Action Alert -

June 12th Vigil at the Texas Republic Party Convention, Dallas, TX

Join parents, students and other concerned citizens calling for state regulation, control and taxation of the marijuana market.

ProtectYouth.org will be organizing a vigil outside the Texas Republican Party Convention at the Dallas Convention Center on Saturday, June 12th, 10am – 12pm.

During the first 15 minutes, we will gather for a meet-and-greet in front of the Earle Cabell Federal Building (Griffin St & Commerce St) and then proceed down to Griffin St to the Dallas Convention Center.

Since many influential people will be attending the Texas Republican Party Convention, please dress business casual at a minimum (i.e. collared shirt and slacks).

For everyone's convenience and to keep the nonpartisan vigil on message, the following signs will be provided.  If you wish to make your own sign, please make sure it is aligned with our public health and safety message.  If you have a question about the content of your sign, please email us

If you make a sign, please do not use Marijuana leaves or any other cultural references to Marijuana.  We have created signs and provided links to their designs below, Thank you for understanding!  We want to make a difference and this is the best way to get started!

Take the Profit Out of Crime - Regulate and Tax the Marijuana Market

Please RSVP if you plan to attend this event.  This will be an exciting event and we look forward to meeting some familiar and new faces!

Please check back regularly for updates.

If you are attending, please read this!!!!

Elizabeth is right. The word is that this event will not be anything like the rally last May or any other. Please dress business casual at a minimum for this vigil (i.e. collared shirts and slacks). Since it is really important to keep the message focused (this cannot be emphasized enough), ProtectYouth.org will be providing the signs. They will be control freaks about this particular event, but please be good sports about it and don't take it too seriously or personally. Finally, remember that this is a nonpartisan vigil, not a protest. The purpose of this event is to win the hearts and minds of Convention participants. The more Republican voters supporting the cause, the better off Texas will be after the 2011 Legislative Session.

I just wanted to note that my

I just wanted to note that my original message has been edited to reflect the wording on the protectyouth.org website. To eliminate confusion, I wanted to emphasize that WE are not protectyouth.org, we are DFW NORML. This is NOT a DFW NORML event, but we are grateful to have been invited to participate in a vigil organized by protectyouth.org. So let's remember they've worked very hard to organize this, and respect their standards for signs and dress. I am looking forward to seeing many NORML faces there!
