Is the 1000 feet the "road distance" or a straight line across all boundaries and properties?

Is this law effective within a private residence or just out in public? e.g., If one has a small amount of marijuana at home and the house happens to fall within the 1000 foot zone of a Drug Free Zone, is that person, within his/her private residence, in violation of the Drug Free Zone?

Thanks in advance!

Private residence's are

Private residence's are included in the Drug Free Zone, It's measured from the property boundaries. They specifically made it that way to combat drug houses around Schools. However, the law is not clear cut on the issue as it's been reported that police will just throw the charge on regardless of the distance as long as a School is "Close enough"
