I take rittlin during the work week and it does help with my add/adhd. I really think that using medi-maj for add is really more effective. I am more focused and will start and complete tasks better. I do not use the medi-maj at work because I do not want to smell like burned leaves all day and would more than likely get fired, so I take the prescribed rittlin. But when I am working around the house or doing projects on the weekend, I only use the medi-maj. I really think that Texas needs to make this legal.
I know that there has been studies with the medical use of canibas but I am not sure if they have looked at the add/adhd area. You can ask any one whe has ever smoked and they will tell you that they have observed the effects of being more focused and motiviated to complete tasks.
I will say that like rittlin, the amount of medi-maj that you consume will have varrious effects. If I take 5 mg of rittlin, no effect. 10 mg, perfect. 30 mg, I am bouncing off the walls and I do not like the way it makes my head feel. Same with using medi-maj. one toke, nothing. Two tokes of kind bud, perfect. Five tokes and I want to sit down and chill for 45 min and I will not get much done. This is the number 1 reason that more research needs to be done in this area. When the correct strain and proper amount is consumed, It treats my add/adhd condition and does not create a "high."
Think about this the next time you get ready to paint your house or work in the yard. Find that correct amount to consume and your tasks will be completed with more detail and mor effectively.
I would like to hear back from everyone one this thought and see if you agree or dissagree. I guess that this is the beginning of my research on this topic.
Thanks
P.S.
Just so you know how I feel about school kids trying medi-maj, I do not think that it is a good idea and there should be a legal age limit before consuming medi-maj. Not real sure if that should be 18 or 21, but I do not think that you should smoke if you are underage. Just my two cents.

For me personally, with ADHD

For me personally, with ADHD it made it alot worse. Getting baked i cannot focus on anything except the most mudain of things like reading wikipedia all day long. I can still drive and have fun but if i gotta work from home it's hard if not impossible.

Wrong Strain

If you are smoking - mostly "Sativa" - you are right, it makes you a scatter brain. But there are some variations of some fine Indicas and Skunk #1 (a famous Skunk strain) that are wonderfully different. I could sit in front of a server console and build VM's, write code and compile all night with amazing precision and accuracy; just toking away - a hit every 20 min or so.

It's all in the strains.

Peace

Thanks for the comments and I

Thanks for the comments and I agree with both of you. This is why there needs to be more research done on the strains and doses of what you take for different medical conditions. I was in Jamaica and went to a beer joint that had a large selection of pot with a description of the effects. They focused on the type of buzz you would feel. I would like to see a description of ailments they would treat. Is there a data base out there that addresses this? Like dudemaster described the skunk strain that helps you focus, there are others that will help with pain, nausa, parkinson, ect.... The wrong strain and wrong amount will produce a negative effect on what you are trying to treat. I would reccomend medi-maj for someone going through a cancer treatment, but I would want them to take the proper strain and not create more problems for the person. This is why we need to make it legal!!

ADHD

I didn't know I had ADD until I used Wellbutrin to help me stop smoking. At the time I had not toked regularly for a few years. After advising my Dr. I could focus much better and accomplished more without as many diversions she concluded that I was likely ADD. This has since been confirmed by a shrinkologist at no minor expense. Since the Wellbutrin seemed to help I stayed on that for a couple of years until a friend convinced me to try weed to see if it would help. Long story short, it helps not only ADD but a number of other ailments including arthritis and the pain associated with mis-aligned knee. No doubt my liver is better for it without Wellbutrin and all the nights of drinking to be able to sleep with the knee pain. The "skunks" are certainly preferred since it is easier to get off the couch and do something but out here, I will take what I can get. I can mostly live with my ADD but since I walk so much the knee can be a problem, especially at night.
Lately, for information on various strains and the best benefit provided, I have called a couple of the "clinics" in LA. They always seem ready to help and are pretty knowledgeable. You can get a list with phone numbers at the below website.
