Got this in an e-mail. I often find group e-mail lists to be a good source of marijuana news, events, and super-great ideas, like this one:
When talk about legalizing marijuana comes up many law enforcement officers suddenly become experts about a mythical "gateway" theory. "If you legalize marijuana, your kids will become junkie addicts," they falsely suggest.
When you see some Sheriff spewing out reefer madness, besides pointing out the error attach some moral condemnation to your rebuke by mentioning the deliberate deception being practiced. Debunk the gateway notion and then point out that the truth has been known for more than 12 years. Ask why the spokesperson is endorsing notions that were proved false in a Government study.
Here's one way to do it- The prestigious Institute Of Medicine (IOM) 1997 study on medical marijuana demolished the gateway theory with this devastating statement-
"Whereas the stepping stone hypothesis presumes a predominantly physiological component to drug progression, the gateway theory is a social theory. The latter does not suggest that the pharmacological qualities of marijuana make it a risk factor for progression to other drug use. Instead it is the legal status of marijuana that makes it a gateway drug." (See- IOM report at: http://www.nap.edu/readingroom/books/marimed/ch3.html)
The IOM is clearly saying that making marijuana illegal is the gateway.
When anybody speaks for the drug war attack their morality because there is nothing honorable, upright or just about drug prohibition. There is always some lie in the prohibitionist's message. After demolishing the fictions, condemn the spokesperson as a deliberate liar and cite a pertinent scripture to add real moral weight to your accusation.
PROVERBS 19: 9 The false witness will not be free from punishment, and he that launches forth mere lies will perish.
A lot of drug warriors seem to think they have "God on their side." It comes as a shock to find they are actually condemned by the Bible.
Adding a moral dimension to our opposition to the drug war, raises questions about whether drug prohibition is approved by God Almighty. These are questions the drug crusaders cannot honestly answer.
Exposing the immorality associated with drug prohibition will reduce support for the drug crusade among many people.
We need to remember that many civil rights battles were won by shaming prohibitionists to the point where they could no longer look the public in the eye with their racist nonsense. The KKK has lost power because the general public in the South considers them to be morally wrong.
We can do the same thing to drug prohibition.

I cant stand it when people use "God" to condemn marijuana use. I'am a proud christian who knows that all plants were created by the lord. If people cant except that tell them to read the first page of the bible...
