The Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of NORML meets regularly the last Saturday of every month at 4 p.m. Come out to our next meeting for our BRAND NEW meeting location at Cabo Grande, 115 West 2nd Street in Ft. Worth.
Our meetings are open to the public. We discuss relevant legislation at a state and national level as well as talk about current marijuana laws. We also plan multiple events such as benefit concerts, movie showings, and marches and rallies. We work with our members and supporters to educate the public about the perils of marijuana prohibition. If you want to know what YOU can do to help bring about a change in marijuana laws, attending a DFW NORML meeting is one of the best ways to do so.
If you haven't been to one of our meetings before, this is a great opportunity to come out and introduce yourself! Cabo Grande is a mexican restaurant on Sundance Square, and they graciously allow us to hold our meetings there. It's a pretty cool place, you should definitely come check it out, perhaps snack on some chips and salsa while we meet- everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Please check Upcoming DFWN Events on the right hand side of the front page for upcoming meeting dates.
Can't wait to see all you folks there!
It should be noted that parking is free in Sundance Square parking lots on the weekends. Also, you don't have to pay the parking meters downtown on the weekends, as I recall. This may have changed.
Anyone who didn't make it for the February meeting please be sure to make time, get a ride, carpool ! The restaurant is very nice and the space was conducive to accomplishing great things. Thank you Cabo Grande !
I don't know how many people were attending the meetings before, but if many more show up at Cabo Grande, we're going to need a more "grande" location! There was room for more, though. The room appeared full, but there were at least 3 empty seats at our table.
It was a very pleasant atmosphere for the meeting. It was great seeing everyone again, as always, and for Josh of Texas NORML to be there, too...that was pretty cool.
One idea is to make sure the officers all sit up front at the 'head' table or whatever, to free up more seats. We can also ask for a few more chairs to fill out the dead spaces in the corners under the TVs.
Next time, also, I think we should ask if they'd turn off the TVs and maybe turn down the music? It was getting a little loud, over the restaurant noise and music.
All in all, I like the location quite a bit!
Me, too, Cheez. And, thanks for having everyone stand up to speak. That made a tremendous difference.
I did have some trouble hearing, and yes, I sat in the back row seats as I often do. I appreciate the speakers facing the audience very much. If there is a way to turn down the other ambient sounds, that would be a great help. I appreciate the space very much regardless.
