Okay I'm new so please excuse my ignorance. But besides me who was the other Loud Mouth guy giving speeches at the GMM rally this year?
Is he legite or was he simply taking advantage of the moment to promote his agenda to run for office and he felt he may have some votes hanging around so he just gave his spiel?
Will some one help me with this?
Thanks, Chap D

I think you mean Barry
I think you mean Barry Cooper, the producer and star of the movie Never Get Busted.
DFW NORML recently held a screening of his newest movie, Never Get Raided, at the Lakewood Theater. Barry is a good friend and supporter of DFW NORML, but I think it was news to us all that he was going to run for congress! I hopes hes serious. :)

I believe his name is
I believe his name is Cooper, he is a former police officer, the larg gentleman with him is a former chief of police. They are with Cannabis Culture mag. He seemed legit to me.

To be or not to be legit
I'm not good at phrasing my questions some times. I'm glad to hear that he supports the cause and has even made a feature length film. Finally, some one who cares and listens!
I guess my question is, this march was organized by the GMM group. Whatever that is? Was it thier plan to have him come out in support of us and then for him to give his spiel?
Or did this Cooper dude simply find a place near him that was having the march and took advantage of his notarity and came out to usurp some glory and campaign for himself?
If the latter is true then he's already on the right step to becoming a politician. But if he's on track and with authorization from the GMM then I may listen to him a little more.
I just don't follow whomever gets up and starts speaking. Actually I usually don't follow anyone but as I always say, "Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way!"
Well gotta blow this joint. Hasta la chacha. Chap D

here's the skinny
Here's the deal:
The GMM was primarily started and promoted by Dana Beal and Marc Emery (Cannabis Culture Magazine). For the last couple of years NORML of Dallas / Ft. Worth has been the primary contact and organizers for the Dallas march.
Barry has a regular column in the magazine and is friends with Marc Emery. Barry has been a contributor to the chapter for quite some time and we asked him to come out as a guest speaker.
He is also running for political office primarily on a marijuana law reform platform.
Yes he sells DVDs, but he answers questions on his forum for free, donates copies to law reform organizations (such as ours) and puts a good deal of his money and effort back into the cause.
I personally had written a letter to the Tarrant county PD concerning their implementation on a Texas House Bill and recieved a rather terse response. Barry took it upon himself to write a very impassioned follow up. This, along with a list of other things, makes me believe his heart is in it.
So rest assured, that Barry wasn't just some random dude seizing an opportunity, haha. Although I don't always agree with Barry, I think he's a earned a listen. (If Barry reads this he won't be shocked, he was there when we disagreed, haha).

Thank you Leon, whoever you are.
This is the exact type of info I was seeking. It has put my mind a little at ease. I wish him and everyone else on our side of the cause the best of luck, but I'm still skeptical of his total success.
I totally agree with him that we have to get those old hardliner ultra conservatives out of there and replace them with some new blood of fresh free thinkers. But how do you do that.
There was something like that here in Texas (the good-ole boy system) prior to the 80's. With the flood of US migrants in the late 80's to Texas the influx if new people, ideas and concepts of how things ought to be really is the only thing that allowed it to change ever so slightly for the better.
Now those US migrants, new to Texas at the time, have all lived here long enough that now they're becoming complacent and content with things the way they are now and have completely forgotten their efforts and or have assimilated to the status quo of today.
How so we shake up something as rock solid as the way things are system to how things ought to be system?
Thanks, Chap D
