DFW NORML Membership
For a mere $15, you can become a new member of the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter and the national NORML chapter for one year.
Renewing members pay only $10, and two people joining together (friends, a couple, etc.) pay only $10 each.
Why should I join NORML?
By joining NORML, you become one more person in our growing body of political power. The reason marijuana is illegal isn’t the big bad government or evil politicians; it’s the closeted pot smoker who’s too scared to stand up and say prohibition is wrong. With each new NORML member, we become a stronger and stronger political force.
Last year, 750,000 Americans got busted for pot. If you get busted, you can lose your driver’s license, your job, your right to vote, and your freedom-all for doing something that is your own personal business and harms no one. By joining NORML, you become an active voice against marijuana prohibition. By joining NORML, you join the ranks of freedom fighters who aren’t afraid to stand up to their government and say prohibition is wrong.
There were two bills in the most recent Texas legislative session regarding marijuana. One would lower the penalties of possession of a small amount, and one would help protect medical marijuana patients. Neither even made it out of the committees process and onto the floor for a vote. Why? There was no support for these bills. I spoke with an aide for Senator Dianne Delisi, who refused to push the medical marijuana bill through her committee to receive a full vote on the senate floor, about her choice to let the bill die. Her reason? She didn’t want to put a bill on the floor that wasn’t going to pass. And she assumed it wouldn’t pass because not enough people stood up and said medical marijuana patients should not be treated as criminals in Texas.
