Hey Everybody!
We're trying to get volunteers together to go from business to business in various areas of Dallas and Fort Worth handing out posters and literature in the weekends leading up to the march. So far we had 5 volunteers (Donna, Carl, Thao, Aaron, and Me) out in Sundance Square- we handed out almost 100 posters to various businesses who wanted them (and put some up anyway in those that didn't :). The trick is to be insistent- ask for the manager, offer him a poster for his business, then offer him one for himself, ask if he'd put one up in the back for the employees, and ask if any of the employees might want a poster for themselves or some for their friends. Never be shy about handing out posters to people who want them. If you can attend one of the below postering gatherings, post a message here and I'll add your name to the attendees list. Remember, this would count as one of your events worked towards your free membership renewal!
For those of you who can't make it to one of the postering gatherings, one of the MOST impactful things you can do is to put up posters in your home area! In particular, Starbucks and other coffee houses generally have local events 'tackboards' on which you can put up a poster- as long as nobody is profiting from the event, (which we're not) they don't mind at all- and generally a couple of either people WORKING there, or customers, will take a poster and some literature. Beyond that, ANY businesses you'd care to hit up, to include (but not limited to:) head shops, restaurants, retail stores, coffee houses, bars, etc. DON'T BE SHY! Getting the word out means putting in legwork getting these posters into the hands of interested individuals.
Upcoming postering gatherings:
Saturday 3/13: Middle and Lower Greenville
-We will meet at The Granada theater at 10am, start there at the north end of Middle Greenville, and move down through Lower Greenville.

Thao, Frances and I hit up about 30 businesses on middle greenville today and passed out about 110 posters, putting many up on Greenville for St. Paddy's Day. It was awesome! Hope to see more of you out next time!

Yo- I'm out of posters, folks, so I won't be down there this weekend unless I can manage to get more between now and then. I'll keep ya'll updated.

Glad to hear you ran out of posters. I'll be hooking up with Ryan at the meeting to get more- you should plan to do the same. I know he got another box of 500 in from the WMM folks and he's itching to get them into people's hands to have them made use of. Hope to see you at the meeting Saturday at 4pm at Cabo Grande!
Peace,

Since I'm still out of posters, I rescheduled the two postering dates for April 3 and 10 respectively. Keep posted for more info and come out to the meeting to get your own stack of posters to put up around your town!
Eric's the only one close enough to me. Eric, if you want to lead a postering event around the Ft.Worth area, I'll join you.
We picked up some extra posters at the meeting yesterday & are going to spend a day next week giving them out. I would have thought that only places like head shops, tattoo parlors and bars would put them up, but I heard at the meeting that all kinds of businesses were accepting them. Who was that that said "no one" had turned them down anywhere they went all day.
I thought that someone at the meeting made a good point when they said that pot smokers are everywhere, we just haven't united yet- or words to that effect. Did you say that, DudeMaster? But, the point was, once they get out of high school, most stoners start to cultivate a degree of privacy regarding their use of marijuana. If people realized that they weren't alone, they'd be emboldened to stand up for their rights and bring about change. These posters let people know that they are not alone.
And, hopefully, we'll have a gigantic turn-out this year (last year's was pretty big) and the press will be amazed...and put it on the news.
