A letter from Shaun McAlister to all “Drug Warriors”
Posted on: September 9, 2012
Listen up, you stinkin’ prohibitionists.
While you’re sitting on your porch enjoying the weather and a nice, toxic, LEGAL cigarette or beer, I’m working to make marijuana legal here in Texas. Why? Because I’m sick of living in a prison state. We as Americans used to believe in freedom! What happened?
Collectively, cigarettes & alcohol are responsible for more than 500,000 American deaths every year. Conversely, marijuana use alone has never killed anyone. Ever. And yet we arrest more than 850,000 Americans every year for a plant. We’re kicking in doors with no-knock raids, shooting dogs, ripping screaming children from their parents in the night. All to protect people from getting “high.”
We’re robbing them of their rights education, to vote, to drive, to own property, to have privacy and to a sovereign body! All the while, we’re in the midst of a prescription drug epidemic. This country deserves more than this!
Did I mention that pot is non-toxic, non-addictive and can be grown in your back yard? It makes a wonderful medicine, helping to treat everything from depression & anxiety to PTSD & cancer. Isn’t it time we stop wasting billions of dollars fighting a war on a plant that was clearly put here for humanity to make use of?
I’ve dedicated a large portion of the last two years of my life to fighting this unjust, unscientific & unnecessary war on weed through my work with DFW Norml. We’re a nonprofit organization here in North Texas working to end cannabis prohibition one Texan at a time. And guess what? We’re #winning.
According to Gallup, more than 50% of Americans support legalizing marijuana. This is no longer a fringe issue. The time to pledge your support is now. The louder our collective voice becomes, the sooner we restore sanity and true freedom to our country.
Consider stopping by DFW NORML’s Cannabis Car Wash next Sunday in Arlington to support the cause or by attending our September Meeting at The Free Man. We have events every month, so come meet your NORML family and participate in your own freedom!
Or can also make an anonymous donation to the fight for legalization at our online store here.
This is happening now. Stand up for your right to be free! Support organizations, politicians & businesses who support your ways of thinking. Get involved.
Herb’s the word.
