NORML Conference 2012 Precap

Posted on: October 12, 2012

This year the 41st annual NORML Conference was held in Los Angeles, California. Our Executive and Communications Directors, Shaun McAlister and William Jenkins respectively, were invited to speak on the “Putting the Grass into Grassroots Activism” panel along with Ed McCann of VA NORML, Kandice Hawes of OC NORML and Erik Williams of CT NORML. As an up and coming affiliate chapter, we were excited to have the opportunity to share our knowledge and gain so much more in return.

The days were packed with 14 panels, 5 speakers, 2 keynote luncheons and 2 socials to excite the interest of any activist. Lucky for you… We captured almost everything on the agenda in High definition! When breaks were scheduled, we got interviews from the likes of Dr. Mitch Earleywine of SUNY/Albany, Patrick Oglesby of and Vincent Lopez of Texas NORML. When socials were scheduled, we networked with business owners, activists and philanthropists who were excited to hear about our progress in Texas. So much so, in fact, that we are proud to announce that we have new contributors, business partners and supporters nationwide! and have made generous advertising and product donations to DFW NORML in the form of website banner ads and 100 “Day-Tripper” odorless/smell proof backpacks. Looks like we’ve got some new membership levels and raffle items in the near future! We also found that people have been buying our products nationwide and several of them readily confessed to rockin’ DFW gear in their hometown. That, I must say, was a pretty good feeling.

After compiling all of the video, editing the panels and creating a recap worthy of NORML, we will write descriptions of each and a more comprehensive story of this adventure. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this amazing success and we can’t wait to show you the final product!
