COWTOWN MEDICAL CANNABIS RALLY IN FORT WORTH AT TRINITY PARK PAVILION 3 ON FEBRUARY 7TH STARTING AT NOON

DFW NORML Rallies To Raise Awareness and Encourage Research For Medical Marijuana
Free Admission – Open To The Public – All Ages Welcome

Feb. 4, 2015 – Fort Worth, Texas – The Dallas / Fort Worth chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (DFW NORML) is rallying at Fort Worth’s Trinity Park and inviting medical professionals, veterans, patients, and parents to speak out about the urgent need for medical marijuana in the Lone Star State. This event is free to attend, family friendly and being held Saturday February 7th, 2015 from 12:00pm – 4:20 pm at Trinity Park, Pavilion 3 – Fort Worth, TX.

In October 2014, Texas Children’s Hospital of Houston announced their official participation in the first worldwide clinical trial for Epidiolex® in children with Dravet Syndrome. As advocates for medical marijuana in Texas, we are rallying in support of any clinical research that could benefit Texas patients through safe, legal access to whole-plant medical cannabis.

In January 2015, Executive Director of DFW NORML Shaun McAlister told the Dallas Observer, “I’m glad that we’re now talking about medical marijuana with some actual sincerity in Texas, because this entire state is just tragically behind the rest of the country.” He also stated that, “On the other hand, I’m really nervous about a CBD-only push because CBD-only legislation represents a very shallow understanding of what cannabis actually is and what it can do. What I’m afraid of with these CBD bills is they’re going to create a medical system that’s extremely limited and that is only going to help a tiny percentage of people. We need a compassionate medical marijuana program, and this rally shows that we care about the patients in Texas and helping save lives. We’re losing too many patients, they’re either dying or moving away. And that’s not the kind of attitude that is going to keep people referring to us as ‘the great state of Texas.”

There are two major goals for the Cowtown Medical Cannabis Rally, which is slated to include food, live music, vendors, and speakers. First, we hope to help make the discussion of medical marijuana less taboo in Texas, so that our patients and doctors can more openly discuss whether or not this natural, non-toxic, therapeutic herb may be right for them. Second, we aim to educate all Texans but especially the medical community and media about the inevitable pitfalls of CBD-only legislation and how Texas needs to get it right the first time by adopting a whole plant medical marijuana program in 2015.

Isn’t it high time YOU got involved?
