Note: HB stands for House Bill and SB stands for Senate Bill.

Marijuana Prohibition:
HB 2165 – (Rep. David Simpson) repealing marijuana prohibition in Texas by striking all references of marihuana from Texas law.
Referred to the Criminal Jurisprudence committee pending public hearing on 4/23/15


Marijuana Decriminalization:
HB 507/SB 1417 – (Rep. Joseph Moody/Sen. Rodney Ellis) reduces possession of an ounce or less of marijuana to a $100 fine and a civil penalty.

HB 507: sent to Criminal Jurisprudence committee on 2/16/15.
SB 1417: referred to Criminal Justice Committee on 3/18/15.

HB 325 – (Rep. Gene Wu) reduces the penalty for possession of 0.35 ounces or less of marihuana to a Class C misdemeanor. Referred to Criminal Jurisprudence committee on 2/16/15

HB 414 – (Rep. Harold Dutton) decreases possession of less than two ounces to a Class B misdemeanor, and less than four ounces to a Class A misdemeanor. Referred to Criminal Jurisprudence committee on 2/12/15.


Medical Marijuana:
HB 3785/SB 1839 – (Rep. Marisa Marquez/Se. Jose Menendez) authorizing the possession, use, cultivation, distribution, transportation, and delivery of whole plant cannabis for medical purposes.

HB 892/SB 339 – (Rep. Stephanie Klick/Sen. Kevin Eltife) provide for medical use of CBD only (low-THC) cannabis and it’s regulation.

HB 837 – (Rep. Elliott Naishatat) provides an affirmative defense to patients in court permitting them to tell jurors that they use marijuana in a medical capacity. Referred to Public Health committee on 3/3/15.


Industrial Hemp:
HB 1322 – (Rep. Joe Farias) legalizes industrial hemp production for Texas farmers.
HB 557 – (Rep. Joe Farias) legalizes hemp for research purposes.

Asset Forfeiture:
House Bill 3171 – stops police from taking assets and cash from people who have not been convicted of a crime.

Referred to State Affairs committee 3/24/15.
